On November 3, NEXCEL Forum on Waterproofing Materials was successfully held, which was participated by nearly 2,500 viewers. Chaired by Dr. Li Juan, Program Director of NEXCEL, and Prof. Zhang Yong, TAC member of NEXCEL, Chief Engineer of China National Building Waterproof Association(CWA), this forum focused on the application of waterproofing materials and coatings in building and construction. Four well-known experts from the industry were invited to share their insights on the latest research and development of asphalt waterproofing membranes and polymer pre-laid waterproofing membranes, polyurethane waterproofing coatings, and building waterproofing technology under the dual-carbon strategy.
In his keynote speech of “ Development of Building Waterproofing Materials in a Context of Low Carbon Economy”, Prof. Zhang Yong introduced general technical progress of the waterproofing industry from the perspective of China's low-carbon strategy, specifically focusing on SBS modified asphalt waterproofing membranes, polyurethane waterproofing coatings, photovoltaic roofs, near-zero energy consumption buildings and construction.
Prof. He Xingyang of Hubei University of Technology made the theme report "Research on the Preparation and Thermal Aging Performance of Ultra fine Split Modified Asphalt". From the existing problems of asphalt coiled materials and the research on oil mill ultra fine powder modified asphalt, Professor He focused on the thermal aging performance of modified asphalt and proposed methods and measures to improve the low-temperature performance of asphalt, It has guiding significance for the industrialization of super fine powder modified asphalt waterproofing membranes in the future.
Professor Ding Hongmei of Beijing Oriental Yuhong Waterproof Technology Co., Ltd. made a keynote speech of "R&D on Polymer Pre-laid Waterproofing Membrane", in which she reviewed the development of polymer pre-laid materials from the aspects of main waterproof layers, bonding layers, protective layers and overlapping sections, and introduced the application of polymer pre-laid membranes in key projects such as underground utility tunnel, rail transit, high-speed railway and nuclear power.
In the keynote speech of " Development of Solvent-free One-component Polyurethane Waterproof Coating Hybridized by Epoxy", R&D Manager Chen Liyi of Keshun Waterproof Technology Co., Ltd. introduced how to prepare polyurethane waterproof coatings featuring solvent-free, low VOC and high bonding strength properties by adopting latent curing and epoxy hybrid membrane formation mechanism, which can save nearly 60,000 tons of organic solvents every year.
In the online salon after the four speeches, the experts interacted with the audience on the topics of technical barriers of building waterproofing materials, low carbon emission reduction, talent cultivation, and frequent problems in application. This forum gave a direction of product technology development and business operation for waterproofing materials manufacturers. The experts also expected the manufacturers to promote healthy and orderly development of the building waterproofing materials industry through sincere cooperation .
