Overview
The key technology of polymer modified inferior coarse aggregate can improve the surface structure of aggregate, reduce the water absorption of aggregate, and improve the strength of polymer modified inferior coarse aggregate concrete according to the different characteristics of inferior coarse aggregate, so as to solve the engineering application problem of inferior coarse aggregate.
Technical performance and indicator
(1) After modification, the water absorption rate of inferior coarse aggregate is reduced by 88%, and the adsorption capacity of admixture is reduced by 80%;
(2) The initial slump of polymer-modified inferior coarse aggregate concrete is increased by 50%, and the 1h slump retention value is increased by 300%;
(3) The 28d compressive strength of polymer modified inferior coarse aggregate concrete increased by 23%, and the 56d compressive strength increased by 32%;
(4) After the modification of inferior coarse aggregate, the chloride ion diffusion coefficient of 10d, 28d and 56d concrete was reduced by 16%, 25% and 36%, respectively.

Financial comparison
Taking into account the treatment cost of inferior coarse aggregate, the use cost of inferior modified coarse aggregate in each square concrete is equivalent to that of ordinary crushed stone.

After the successful research of polymer modified inferior coarse aggregate technology, it will provide modification route for other porous inferior coarse aggregate, such as: massive slag, coral reef, light aggregate, volcanic rock, urban construction waste, etc.

Deployment experience
In 2023, in cooperation with China Railway Construction South China Construction (Guangzhou) Building Materials Co., LTD., 500 polymer modified inferior coarse aggregate concrete prestressed sleepers were produced and applied to the front section of Liaocheng Station of Beijing-Kowloon Railway Line.
