Serialization technology of recycled plastic asphalt mixture

Overview
Serialization technology of recycled plastic asphalt mixture has realized that recycled thermoplastics can replace 20% of asphalt in the asphalt mixture, and thermosetting plastics can replace 80% of traditional mineral powder fillers. At the same time, a variety of supporting equipment and related construction processes have been developed, thereby greatly improving the utilization rate of waste plastics and reducing plastic pollution.

Technical performance and indicator
(1) When recycled polyethylene plastic replaces 20% asphalt, the Marshall stability of asphalt mixture is 27.91kN, the flow value is 1.6mm, the residual stability is 95%, the trabecular bending and tensile strain is 3400με, the dynamic stability is more than 11,000 times/mm, and the dynamic modulus of 10Hz is 10171MPa at 20℃
(2) When recycled thermosetting plastics replace 50% fillers, the Marshall stability of asphalt mixture exceeds 9.6kN, the residual stability exceeds 92%, the trabecular bending and tensile strain is 2044.4με, the dynamic stability is 1865 times /mm, and the dynamic modulus of 10Hz at 20℃ is 10575MPa.

Financial comparison
Compared with the unmodified asphalt mixture, the cost of asphalt mixture with 20% recycled thermoplastic replacement asphalt and 50% recycled thermosetting plastic replacement filler in this technology is reduced by 14.5% and 41.4%, respectively. At the same time, this technology can not only improve the performance of asphalt pavement, but also reduce the later maintenance cost to a certain extent.

Application areas
It can be used in any scenario where asphalt mixture is used, such as urban roads, ordinary national and provincial roads, highways, large parking lots, airport roads, tunnels and bridge paving projects.

Deployment experience
In 2024, the road reconstruction and expansion project in Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, has implemented a total of 2 kilometers of demonstration projects, using a total of 13 tons of recycled thermoplastics and 45 tons of thermosetting plastics.
