A production line of phase change energy storage composite particles for asphalt pavement was built

 

Introduction
 
Recently, a production line of phase change energy storage composite particles was built in Shaanxi Hancheng Sci&tech Innovation Park, which was an outcome of NEXCEL 2024 SFP project “Research and demonstration on snow melting of phase change energy storage”. With intelligent and environment friendly operation process, the self-developed production line has been recognized as "2025 Green Manufacturing Engineering Project" by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.

In winter and spring, asphalt pavement of highway in cold areas is exposed to snow and ice, which frequently causes traffic accidents. The hydrocarbon-based phase change energy storage particles developed in this project can keep the temperature of asphalt pavement above freezing point for an extended period of time, preventing the formation of snow or ice and ensuring road safety. It is a green and energy-saving technology with advantages of high energy utilization rate and less capital investment. In the future, this product can be widely applied on large-scale projects in highways in cold regions.
