The group standard T/CECS 10424-2024 "Thermoplastic Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composite Bars" was issued, which was formulated by Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing, China Building Materials Academy and Aramco Asia.

Under China’s push to strengthen its maritime capabilities, a new group standard has been developed to overcome the weaknesses of traditional thermosetting fiber-reinforced composite bars—such as their inability to be reprocessed and subpar durability—while capitalizing on the superior flexibility, toughness, and corrosion resistance of thermoplastic alternatives.

The standard establishes unified definitions, technical specifications, testing methods, and application guidelines for thermoplastic composite bars. It covers materials like polypropylene, nylon, and acrylic resin-based composites across infrastructure sectors such as road construction, civil engineering, and marine projects.

As the world’s first specialized standard for thermoplastic composite bars, the standard serves as a cornerstone for China’s marine development strategy and the global advancement of sustainable engineering solutions.
