
FRP composite cooling tower refers to mechanical ventilation cooling tower composed of pultruded FRP composite profiles as structural parts (as shown in Figure 1). There are many types of structural members in FRP composite cooling tower (as shown in Figure 2). This standard specifies the design methods for each type of structural members, and specifies the joint connection methods, including bolted connection and hybrid bolt-adhesive connection.

Pultruded FRP composite profile is an anisotropic material, which has the advantages of light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance and low carbon emissions, and can replace steel and reinforced concrete as the main structural material for cooling tower. This standard provides a technical basis for the design, construction and acceptance of FRP composite cooling tower, and thus, it has a great impact in promoting the standardization and systematization of FRP composite cooling towers.
