The presentation introduces an economical, low-carbon, and eco-friendly composite regenerant primarily formulated from desulfurized waste tire crumb rubber (DVCR) and epoxidized soybean oil (ESO). This regenerant effectively restores the performance of aged SBS modified asphalt while endowing it with enhanced anti-aging capabilities. Specifically, the regenerated asphalt system incorporating 40% DVCR demonstrates optimal performance, achieving an excellent balance among high-temperature stability, low-temperature performance, and long-term aging resistance. The underlying mechanisms include: ESO replenishing the light fractions; DVCR facilitating the rearrangement of the polymer network; Sacrificial oxidation of residual C=C double bonds within the DVCR; The formation of physical barriers and free-radical scavenging effects by carbon black. However, there is an optimal dosage threshold for desulfurized rubber; excessive amounts can lead to excessive system stiffness and compromise long-term performance.
