On December4, 2025, the 2025 NEXCEL Forum on Building Efficiency & Insulation Materials was successfully held. This forum was chaired by Professor SUN Shibing from Beijing University of Technology, NEXCEL TAC member, and three well-known experts delivered insightful presentations and shared their research and application experience. This forum attracted over 4500 viewers.
ZHOU Yintao from China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited outlined the development of aerogel in building insulation. He emphasized the significant advantages of aerogel in energy conservation, and listed application cases of aerogel boards in project such as the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center and the renovation of old residential areas.
Professor BAO Yuqing from Beijing Uni.-Construction Group Co, Ltd. introduced the trends of energy consumption and carbon emissions in buildings. He systematically explained the key aspects of ultra-low-energy buildings, such as the testing of exterior wall insulation performance, adjustment of safety coefficients, material selection and structure design. He also introduced some projects in Beijing and Xiong’an.
Professor KONG Yong from Nanjing Tech University introduced the product types and industry trends of aerogels, focusing on aspects such as the improvement of their mechanical strengths and thermal insulation properties, and cost control. He introduced the application prospects of aerogel in buildings and provided thoughts on the future development of the aerogel industry.
In the salon/Q&A session, experts discussed topics such as the the cost and engineering applications of aerogel materials, and the future development trends of ultra-low-energy buildings.
