On February 27, NEXCEL team visited Shaanxi Hancheng production base of Beijing Qintian Sci&Tech Group (QINTIAN), which is the project member of NEXCEL 2024 SFP project “Research and demonstration on snow and ice melting property of phase change energy storage asphalt mixture”. Mr XU Tongyue, General Manager, Mr JIN Jiangtao, Deputy General Manager of QINTIAN, and Prof LI Haijian of China Building Materials Academy introduced the production line of phase change energy storage particles with annual output of 60,000 tons.

Phase change energy storage particle is a new type of smart material, which can absorb or release heat through the phase change process to adjust the temperature of the road pavement. The application of phase change particles to asphalt pavement can effectively alleviate the problem of snow and ice under extreme weather conditions, and reduce traffic accidents, and improve driving comfort and safety.
Dr LI Juan, Program Director of NEXCEL, highly recognized the achievements made by the project team in the development and industrialization of phase change energy storage particle. She highlighted that phase change particulate technology shows effectiveness not only in snowmelt and de-icing applications, but also in smart temperature-regulating pavements. She hopes that the project team will apply this technology in diverse engineering applications, providing critical technical leverage for green transition and smart upgrades across transportation infrastructure.
This visit deepens the cooperation between NEXCEL and project team. Both parties have committed to leveraging their strengths in phase-change particulate material production and engineering application, with the shared objective of advancing the industrialization of smart temperature-regulating pavement materials.
