

In the opening speech, Dr. Zhixiao, Assistant General Manager of CNBM, Chairman of CBMA and Chairman of NEXCEL Steering Committee(SC), expresses congratulations to NEXCEL and the project teams on the series of remarkable outcomes in the past two years. These outcomes are not only an excellent demonstration of the technical strength, but also an active practice of sustainable development. In the future, CBMA will continue to fully support the development of NEXCEL, accelerate the transformation of technology, and empower the sustainability of building and construction sector.

Mr. Hussain Albinali, Manager of Nonmetallic Engineering Division, Saudi Aramco and Member of NEXCEL SC, expressed in his speech that this forum shows great collaboration between industry, universities, research institutes, and government entities, which signifies a remarkable step to explore the future of construction materials. He pointed that innovation is the cornerstone of progress in today's rapidly evolving world, and it has been seen that a lot of realized value and benefits from using nonmetallic materials which contributes to huge cost saving and lowering CO2 footprint. He emphasized that the collaboration with NEXCEL is a successful example of Saudi Aramco's industrial supporting efforts.

Dr Li Juan, Program Director of NEXCEL, introduced that NEXCEL project teams not only develop technology and product in the laboratory, but also apply them in the engineering ; not only contribute to the development of China, but also help the Belt and Road countries in Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe. Until now, through these application, more than 1,000 tons of polymer wastes has been recycled, reducing nearly 10,000 tons of CO2, equivalent to planting one million trees.
