On April 19, Professor Yao Yan, Supervisor and Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee, Dr. Li Juan, Center Director, and other staff from NEXCEL visited China National Building Waterproof Association(CWA) for an exchange meeting. Zhu Dongqing, Secretary General, Miao Yan, Executive Vice President, and Xian Yongbiao (online participation), Vice President from CWA attended the meeting.
Zhu Dongqing extended warm welcome to Professor Yao Yan and NEXCEL team with special thanks for its special attention to the waterproof material sector. He pointed out that the establishment of NEXCEL provided a good platform for innovation and application of petroleum-based building materials. The full text of MOHURD's mandatory engineering construction specification entitled as "General Specification for Waterproofing of Construction and Municipal Engineering" is expected to be released this year, which puts forward higher requirements for waterproof products and push the industry to make breakthroughs in high durability, high environmental protection and high performance of waterproofing products.

The improvement and breakthrough will realize transformation and high-quality development of the sector. He hopes that the two sides can carry out further exchanges and cooperation to jointly promote high-quality development of the construction sector.
Professor Yao Yan expressed that she was happy to join this meeting and that CWA has done a lot of practical work in leading the technological development of the industry. NEXCEL was co-founded by Saudi Aramco and China National Building Materials Academy with the vision to accelerate the application of nonmetallic materials in the building and construction sector. She hopes that NEXCEL and CWA can work together in various fields covering technology development, organization management and other aspects.

Dr. Li Juan introduced NEXCEL's background, vision and objectives, operation structure, core functions and focused areas, specially highlighting the latest released 2022 Program Guideline and focused areas for 2023 Program Guideline. She stated that she is willing to establish a cooperation and exchange mechanism with CWC and carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of project research, standard formulation, advocacy and promotion.

Zhang Yong, CWA Chief Engineer and TAC member, introduced the development of waterproof material technology and common research topics to be solved. He hopes to cooperate with NEXCEL to carry out continuous technological change and product upgrade in the waterproof material sector, and drive the transformation of China to become a waterproof material manufacturing powerhouse.
The meeting greatly enhanced the understanding of each other. In future both sides, based on resource advantages, will strengthen cooperation and exchange in technical research and promotion, standards and specifications development, advocacy and training, and jointly seek high-quality development.
Other experts from CWA, CTC Shuzhou company, Beijing Oriental Yuhong Waterproofing Technology corporation, Key State Laboratory of Special Functional Waterproofing Materials, and Bei Xin Waterproofing Materials company of BNBM, were present at the meeting.
