From July 1 to 3, "2022&2023 International Summit on Composites Science and Technology - Civil Engineering Composites Forum & The 4th National Conference on Application Technology of Civil Engineering Composites" was convened in Dongguan, Guangzhou Province. Hosted by China Society for Composite Materials (CSCM), the conference was organized by NEXCEL, Civil Engineering Composites Branch of CSCM, Tongji University, and Southeast University, with more than 160 experts from universities, research institutes and enterprises attending.
The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by Prof. Xue Weichen, Deputy Director and Secretary General of the Civil Engineering Composites Branch of CSCM, also TAC member of NEXCEL and Yangtze Scholar of Tongji University, Ms. Ye Jinrui, Deputy Secretary General of CSCM, and Prof. Wu Zhishen from Southeast University, Director of Civil Engineering Composites Branch gave welcome address.

The conference focused on "Challenges and Opportunities of Composites in Civil Engineering under the Dual Carbon Strategy", with 5 keynote speeches, 11 invited speeches and 2 salons to discuss the cutting-edge technologies and trends of composites for civil engineering.
During the conference, Prof. Shi Caijun from Hunan University, Prof. Wu Zhishen from Southeast University, Prof. Zhang Yamei from Southeast University, Prof. Dai Jianguo from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Prof. Zhao Jun from Zhengzhou University delivered keynote speeches on topics such as the application of composite materials combined with Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC), seismic strengthening of composite material engineering structures, fiber and 3D printed concrete, development and application of high-strength Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) materials reinforced with composites, and preparation of composite rebars and reinforced concrete structures. In addition, 11 invited speakers from various domestic universities and enterprises shared the latest research progress in Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) or Fiber Reiforced Concrete (FRC).

Dr. Li Juan, Program Director of NEXCEL delivered a speech entitled "Composite Material Building Solutions", introducing the background and operation of NEXCEL, providing detailed information about the NEXCEL funded projects related to composite materials, and emphasizing NEXCEL's continued commitment to promoting the transformation and application of non-metallic materials including fiber composite materials.
Furthermore, the conference featured two thematic salons on FRC and FRP, where salon guests and participants engaged in lively discussions and jointly explored key application bottlenecks in the field of composite materials for civil engineering.
